Five Reasons Why Puerto Rico is a Plus-Sized Paradise

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Puerto Rico for a much needed vacation thanks to Discover Puerto Rico. After this difficult year, it felt more like a necessity than a luxury to travel somewhere warm and exotic and get a break from our daily lives in New Jersey.

For plus-sized people, travel isn’t always easy or fun. In fact, avoiding people’s comments or stares, not fitting in seats or exceeding weight limits at activities you’re interested in can make plus-sized people not travel at all!

We are all deserving of a vacation. Every body.

I was pleasantly surprised with our trip to Puerto Rico and I am declaring it a plus-sized paradise!

Here are five reasons why Puerto Rico is a Plus-Sized Paradise:

Reason 1: It’s a quick flight and easy to get around.

From my home in NJ, it’s a relatively short and easy flight. I didn’t have any issues with transportation, which isn’t always the case for plus-sized people.

Reason 2: It is incredibly body positive and welcoming.

My whole family felt like it was welcomed into the open arms of the people of Puerto Rico. Everyone was so helpful and kind. I didn’t experience any gawking or second looks because of my size.

Reason 3: There are so many options and so much accessibility on the island.

It didn’t matter what we wanted to do or what kind of adventure we wanted to have, there was always an option for everyone to have fun.

Reason 4: The weather was amazing!

As a plus-sized person, I am often incredibly hot all of the time, but we were there in late March and it was 85 degrees. If we were ever too hot, there was always a beautiful beach or pool to cool off in.

Reason 5: It is beautiful…

Just like you! And we are all deserving of these wondrous, incredible experiences in the world.

I hope you, too, will get a chance to Discover Puerto Rico soon!
